YSAN Monthly Meeting - July 25

Kaitlan Ohler welcomed everyone to the July YSAN meeting, outlined the agenda, and thanked the group for taking time to collaborate across organizations to support court-involved youth in Pierce County.
Community Building Activity @ 7:08
Ashia Farrell led an icebreaker activity where participants shared where they would want to live outside the US, their favorite TV show, and a personal goal.
DCYF Juvenile Rehabilitation Update @ 20:16
Allison Krutsinger from DCYF provided an update on the challenges and decisions around the growing population and safety issues at the Green Hill and Echo Glen juvenile rehabilitation facilities. This included an intake freeze, transferring older youth to the Department of Corrections, and plans for a new smaller, community-based facility in Pierce County.
YSAN Leadership Transition Plan @ 56:02
Kaitlan Ohler discussed her upcoming parental leave and the opportunity to breathe new life into the YSAN, including ideas for a co-leadership model or rotating hosting responsibilities across member organizations.

Members shared updates on upcoming events, programs, and initiatives from their respective organizations, including Hilltop Artists, Fresh Start, Our Sisters House, Alchemy Skateboarding, Elevate Health, and Imagine Justice Project.

Kaitlan provided information about the upcoming YSAN meeting in August, including the opportunity to participate in BBQ after the meeting sponsored by Bryant Neighborhood Center and later that afternoon a screening and discussion of the documentary "Since I Been Down".
